A Legacy of Excellence: God’s Providence
It has been more than two decades since Marthoma College of Special Education took root in the field of speech and hearing, guided by its noble motto: “To serve society with compassion and excellence.” As the course coordinator of this institution for over a decade, I pen this article with deep gratitude and pride, reflecting on two decades of God's unwavering providence. Over the past 20 years, Marthoma College has not only withstood the test of time but has also flourished, touching countless lives and making significant contributions to society.
Great Journey Begins with Small Steps
The journey of MISH was no different. Established in 2003 as part of Marthoma Special School, Marthoma College of Special Education has evolved into one of Kerala’s premier institutions for speech and hearing education. Its alumni now provide rehabilitation services around the world. Since its founding, the institute has welcomed students from diverse religious backgrounds and regions, providing them with excellence in speech and hearing education. In 2011, the Master's program in speech-language pathology and audiology was introduced, and in 2023, our institute was recognized as a Center of Research under KUHS, furthering our mission. Today, our institute trains professionals who provide clinical rehabilitation services for speech, language, and hearing disorders, integrating them into society.
Milestones and Achievements
Over the years, we have achieved numerous milestones that reflect our commitment to excellence. Our students have excelled in academics and extracurricular activities, bringing laurels to the institution. A highlight of our journey has been the establishment of state-of-the-art facilities, offering our students modern resources to support both their academic and personal growth. From well-equipped laboratories and libraries to recreational amenities, we strive to create an environment that fosters holistic development.
Our college has organized national and zonal conferences and has partnered with district administrations and panchayats for awareness and screening programs. Additionally, we are engaged in community-based rehabilitation, exhibitions, and camps, while also emphasizing extracurricular activities.
Impact on Society
Our alumni, spread across the globe, are living testimonies to Marthoma College’s impact on society. They are not only successful professionals but also compassionate individuals, embodying the values instilled in them during their time here. Their contributions to society are a source of immense pride for us.
Marthoma College of Special Education represents the Marthoma Church's commitment to compassionately serving society. The staff and students of this college are grateful to our management for supporting our personal and professional growth. In this journey of two decades, many directors and their families have left a profound impact. We thank each of them and acknowledge the dedicated service of our current director, Rev. Aneesh Thomas, and his family.
Through all the challenges and triumphs, one thing that has remained constant is our faith. God's providence has guided us, providing strength and direction in times of need. It is this faith that binds us together and propels us to continue striving for excellence.
Looking Ahead
As we celebrate the two decades of legacy, we also look to the future with hope and determination. There are still many goals to achieve, many lives to touch, and many more milestones to reach. With God's grace and the continued support of our management, dedicated faculty, and enthusiastic students, I am confident that Marthoma College will continue to shine brightly. May God enable us to serve society with compassion and excellence.
Thank You!!!
